Study of eating fish reduces the risk of colon cancer

The analysis of more than 40 studies around the world that people who eat fish may have a lower risk of colon cancer, rectal cancer, as well.


And analysis - which released the journal (American Journal of Medicine,) - is the latest report links between eating fish and a number of potential health benefits.


And collection of Jay Liang, Hospital of the digestive system diseases in Xi'an, China, and colleagues the results of 41 studies published during the period between 1990 and 2011, which measured the consumption of fish and monitored the diagnosis of cancer.


The study included research from the United States, Norway, Japan, Finland and other countries.


Said Yang and his colleagues: "Our findings suggest inverse association between fish consumption and cancer of the colon and rectum."


The researchers found that regular intake of fish associated with a decline of 12 percent risk of cancer of the colon or rectum.


The results took into account the age of participants in studies of alcohol and eating red meat and genetic history of cancer in their families and other health factors.


The results indicated that the protective effect associated with eating fish stronger for cancer of the rectum for cancer of the colon where it was found that those who ate the largest amount of fish had lower risk of rectal cancer by 21 percent compared with those who ate the least amount.
