Said one of the leaders of the army in the Philippines said that 22 soldiers were wounded in a bomb blast Tuesday near the camp of former Muslim militants south of the country.
The soldiers were on patrol when the bomb exploded high in the area covered by trees in a village in the city of Biwas Somyeceb province of Basilan, which is located at a distance of 900 km south of Manila.
Said Colonel Ricardo Fessaaa, a brigade commander said five soldiers suffer at least serious injuries were taken to the city of Zamboanga City nearby.
Fessaaa said: "It is believed that this work bear the fingerprint of rebels of the Abu Sayyaf Group (radical Islamist), where the blast took place near the former camp for them."
Blamed on the Abu Sayyaf group, which is said to have links to Al Qaeda in many of the most serious terrorist attacks that took place in the Philippines and also in many of the kidnappings that targeted important figures.
