Lavrov: We have not reached an agreement with Washington on the "missile shield"

Said Sergei Lavrov, Foreign Minister of Russia, Moscow and Washington have been unable to reach agreement on the missile shield system.


This came during remarks he made after his meeting with his U.S. counterpart Hillary Clinton said, "I do not loom on the horizon the signs to reach agreement on missile defense system between Russia and the United States of America."


He said that during meetings the parties agreed to "continue the expert in their work," adding, "We explained to our fellow Americans the risks that we see in the plan stages of conditioning four and we believe that communication experts will allow the disclosure of the possibility of agreement, so as not to constitute such a system a threat to Russia," pointing out that this the system should not be considered "a danger to strategic stability in the world."


Russia agreed in the NATO Russia Council Summit which was held in Lisbon in November 2010, on cooperation with NATO to establish a system for the European missile shield, Russia and America did not reach a common view on the architecture of European security.


And Russia insists on the participation in the system set up by America in conjunction with NATO in Europe, and requests to give them assurances that this system is not directed against it, but the United States said they were not willing to give written assurances it requires legal, prompting Russian President Medvedev at the end of November, 2011 to the Declaration group for military action - technical, diplomatic, in response to a Russian missile defense system in Europe.
