Britain announced on Friday condemned the Israeli authorities announced the start of received bids for construction of 171 houses in the settlements of "Har Homa" and "Pisgat Ze'ev" in East Jerusalem.
Said State Department spokesman, said: "We have explained the Minister of Foreign Affairs William Hague condemned the Israeli plans for Britain seeking to build settlements, and that in his statement on December 20, 2011 when it was announced construction plans."
He added: "Haig asked the Israeli government to cancel these decisions for the construction of settlements and decisions, which believes it is wrong and has negative consequences on the peace process in addition to being illegal under international law." He described the decision earlier in the day as "disappointing", and reiterating the call for the Government of Israel to end settlement construction.
