Killed 24 soldiers from southern Sudan forces in Jonglei state by rebel fire, also lost and many more injured, in the latest wave of violence in the troubled region, officials also reported Sunday.
The attack took place on Thursday in Pibor in the Jonglei region, after it has been sending soldiers to investigate the news from watching the rebel leader David Yao Yao, who split from the South Sudan army (SPLA SPLA).
Cole said Manyang governor Jonglei told AFP "and reportedly killed 24 people of South Sudan's army, and 17 others are missing," he said, adding that the survivors needed a long time to get from that area, where they cut the distance walking and reported the incident.
Manyang said "he had been sent a small force to make sure that David Yao Yao exists in the region, and then they were attacked by men in uniform in addition to a number of armed civilians."
He added that he suspected civilians are a group of young people from Morley, ethnic group living in Pibor County and belongs to Yao Yao, who is believed to be weeks ago recruits youth.
